#3 Love for Running

Hey friends and strangers (if you are new to my blog, welcome!), today I would like to share a little bit more about one of my hobbies; running. I love running and have been doing so since I was very young before I was in Primary school. Lo and behold I was never always into running. I started running when my family would go to our neighbourhood park to exercise once in a while. I would run long distances with my dad.

Background:

However, I remember fondly that I disliked running when I was in primary school as we had to run 1.6km and I was very unfit then. I couldnโ€™t run that distance without stopping to catch my breath. My friends, it was a struggle... but I never gave up as I had a friend (IYKYK) who pushed me and ran with me during physical education (PE) lessons. She taught me how to run faster and longer without stopping. I eventually managed to run better with her help and did well for my NAPFA test!

Running became more enjoyable for me when I started doing sports in Primary school and Secondary school. I even took part in the annual cross country events in my secondary school every year and would run proactively during my PE lessons. I was no longer โ€œforcedโ€ to run by the PE teacher. Also, I was never the fastest runner but I enjoyed doing it nonetheless. Running more both in school and during my free time has definitely allowed me to enjoy running much more.

Today:

I am glad to share that running is my hobby and enjoy it. In fact, I am currently in the NUS Cross Country Co-Curriculum Activity (CCA) and have managed to make many friends who share the same interest and love for running. Running allows me to unwind and meet new people. The tough training and runs have also taught me to never give up just when things get difficult. Running is definitely one of the many sports that helps to strengthen my mind.

REMINDER:

For those of you out there who think you have to excel in running in order to consider it as your hobby... itโ€™s not true! Running IS your hobby as long as you enjoy it. You donโ€™t have to be fast or very good at it to consider it as your hobby! โœŒ๐Ÿƒ
